Most businesses are aware that a lot of hands-on training as been postponed due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, but are you aware of where that leaves you with your legal requirements and duty of care, to your staff and customers?
Initially the HSE extended the renewal of existing First Aid qualifications/certificates to the end of Sept 2019 and then the end of Oct 2019. They have now said that they will now permit a 6 month extension to any current certificates, from the expiry date if during the Pandemic.
However, as you are still required to provide adequate provision for emergencies, you are still required to provide the training for new staff or those required to meet your legal requirements.
Also have you updated your Procedures for the performing of First Aid during the Pandemic, in the PPE being issued or used and if Rescue Breaths are to be given ‘if there is the potential risk of Covid’?
All First Aid training currently being delivered adheres to strict Covid-19 guidelines on the PPE, Sanitisation, and updated procedures.
