Time to say goodbye to Windows 10.

And here's why...

Remember WannaCry? 

It gave us the wake-up call we needed, reminding us that having unsupported software is not the best way to run a business.

It was back in May 2017, that the WannaCry ransomware worm spread like wildfire, exploiting an SMB vulnerability and wreaking havoc on governments, hospitals, factories, and government IT systems.

The culprit? Hackers yes… but the real smoking gun was unsupported or unpatched Windows systems

Running outdated OS versions or skipping critical patches? You're playing with fire! Protect your data, operations, and reputation before disaster strikes. 

Here’s how to dodge the bullet: 

𝗛𝘂𝗻𝘁 𝗗𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗨𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗦𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺𝘀: 

Conduct an asset inventory to spot devices still clinging to Windows 10 (or older). 

𝗨𝗽𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗨𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆: 

Shift crucial systems to Windows 11 (or another supported OS). If upgrades are tricky, use Microsoft’s Extended Security Updates (ESU). 

𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘆 𝗣𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵-𝗦𝗮𝘃𝘃𝘆: 

Apply all security updates before support ends. ⚠️ Watch out for patch automation surprises! 

𝗙𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗳𝘆 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗗𝗲𝗳𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗲𝘀: 

Deploy endpoint protection, network segmentation, and strict access controls. Ensure solid backup and recovery solutions are in place. 

𝗧𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗖𝘆𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝗠𝘂𝘀𝗰𝗹𝗲𝘀: 

Run tabletop exercises and incident response drills. Confirm that business can keep ticking if a system gets compromised. 

Not patching or upgrading can leave you at risk. Hackers will be on the look out for systems that have not been patched, and over time... they'll catch many that haven't.
