"... But we paid you LAST week!"

By
I had a call from a company last week.. they owner was in tears because a major customer was refusing to pay their bill.

Why?

Because the customer had already paid Cybercriminals, thinking it was this company!

Cyber criminals had gained access to the company's inbox and simply waited for this company to invoice their clients... then, they sent. follow up email to the companies customers informing them that there had been a change in banking details.

The result? Over £160,000 sent to Cybercriminals.

WHAT CAN YOU DO?
On the face-of-it, this looks like a technical issue... but it's not entirely true.

Step 1 - Inform your clients that you will never request a change of banking details without contacting them separately.  You can even include this on your invoice footer.
Step 2 - Set-up 2FA on your email account
Step 3 - Have a strong passphrase (not a password), such as "GBSharedisNumber1!" - It's easy to remember and it's long!

There are other steps you can take to protect your money, but start with the above and you'll be 100% more secure than you were 5 minutes ago!

Cyber Awareness Month is in October... but it lasts all year round!

If you're concerned about your own security simply get in touch and I'll be happy to help.
