St Andrews Out of School Club Apprentice Tina Goodram who undertakes her training with Bolton based Training Provider, Alliance Learning, has been named, ‘Group Training Association England (GTAE) Business Services Apprentice of the Year’ at the 2020 GTA England Apprentice Awards. The awards took place on 19th February at the Houses of Parliament in London.
GTA England is a national network of high quality, employer led delivery organisations consisting of over 30 members. The GTA vision is to work collaboratively as Group Training Associations to provide employers with outstanding, world-class, training and apprentices. GTA are committed to the long-term sustainable development and growth of the GTA network and believe that the synergies that membership co-operation brings makes us stronger together, with a key focus on quality, growth and financial health.
Tina’s Training Provider, Alliance Learning, is one of the North West’s largest Independent Training Providers and has been delivering Apprenticeships and Training since 1966.
Tina faced intense competition from over 22,000 potential nominees across England, however, due to her dedication and natural ability to work with children she took the title. Her work was also advocated during her employers recent Ofsted inspection, where it was commended from an inspector that ‘she wished she could bottle Tina’s personality as it was so inspiring’. The award was presented by Jennifer Coupland the CEO of the Institute for Apprenticeships.
To add to her growing list of accolades, Tina also won the Alliance Learning Childcare Apprentice of the Year 2019 and the Alliance Learning Overall Apprentice of the Year 2019.
Alliance Learning also had success in 2 other categories, with engineering apprentice Lorna Hay being named runner up in the Best Newcomer category and maintenance apprentice Jack Holt being Highly Commended in the Engineering category.
Mark Maudsley, CEO of GTA England commented:
“We were delighted to hold our awards at such a prestigious event as the House of Commons befitting of our fantastic Apprentices; Employers; and Members in our tenth year. It’s great to share that the network has grown to 22,000 Apprentices making each of our nominees almost 1 in a thousand.”
Receiving the award, Tina said:
“I feel extremely lucky and proud to have won this national award. After leaving school with no qualifications because I became a young mum, I am very grateful to Alliance learning, not just for helping me achieve my qualifications but also leading me to success in winning this award. From the bottom of my heart, I want to say a massive thank you. It’s changed my life for the better and encouraged me to continue and achieve more. I would encourage anyone no matter what age to do an Apprenticeship. At 41 years old it just shows you are never too old to learn and achieve.“
Kelly Perkin, Chief Executive at Alliance Learning, had the following comments:
“We are absolutely delighted that Tina has won this National Award. Her commitment to her apprenticeship, supported by our fantastic team at Alliance Learning really shines through. We couldn’t be prouder that Tina is flying the flag for apprenticeships. Tina really goes to show that it is never too late to pursue your career and achieve your ambitions. I am sure she will continue to prosper in her childcare career.”
