Time to Switch to HTTPS

By

Google is now taking further steps to strengthen the security of its browser, and for DocuWare On-Premise customers it means switching to HTTPS-only communication before Friday 23rd July.

HTTPS (Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure) is an internet communication protocol that protects the integrity and confidentiality of data between the user's computer and the site.

Data sent using HTTPS is secured via Transport Layer Securityprotocol which provides encryption, data integrity and authentication.

A change in Chrome version 92 means that only encrypted communication via HTTPS will be possible with DocuWare desktop apps.

The Chrome browser is constantly being updated to strengthen its security and as of July encrypted communication will only be possible via the HTTPS protocol.

DocuWare Desktop Apps

This will affect your work with DocuWare Desktop Apps. You will no longer be able to use certain DocuWare components via HTTP – only with HTTPS.

This impacts features like Smart Connect, Edit & Send, the Scan App from the DocuWare Web Client, as well as the configuration areas of SmartConnect and document processing (scanner, folder, printer).

The move to HTTPS is now required, and the extra layer of encryption added to your IT infrastructure will make the information stored in DocuWare even more secure.

To ensure On-Premise DocuWare users do not lose functionality, we recommend you make this change as soon as possible.
