The Power Of Structure

By
One of the garden styles I explore in my upcoming book is the Architectural garden.

Architectural planting is often associated with formal layouts, but I enjoy showing how the same design principles can be used to create gardens that feel softer, more natural and informal, while still retaining a strong sense of structure and balance.

For me, the planting palette plays a vital role. I favour predominantly evergreen planting with rich green foliage and bold, architectural leaves, creating year-round interest, texture and depth.

The result is a garden that feels calm, cohesive and visually striking in every season.

As a Chartered Landscape Architect, I believe architectural planting is about much more than straight lines and symmetry. It's about thoughtfully combining form, texture and carefully selected plants to create outdoor spaces that are practical, timeless and full of character.
