"So This Is Me, Hilary”, A Glimpse Into My World

A little bit about Hilary

I love to solve puzzles. Which is why I love projects where I have landscape or garden problems to solve. I see it as a great opportunity to find a truly creative solution.

From the ground up

I started out as an apprentice gardener over 40 years ago, and quickly developed a passion for plants and planting.

After a number of years running my own landscape construction and maintenance company, I wanted to learn more. So, I completed a Degree in Landscape Design, and then a Postgraduate Diploma in Landscape Architecture.

This led to me studying an Advanced Diploma in Environmental Project Management and becoming a Chartered Member of the Landscape Institute (CMLI) in 1994.

My Story

I have worked in the landscape sector for 35 + years, including 25 + years as a chartered landscape architect.

Here are just a few of the diverse projects I have worked on:

  • Railway station and lineside improvements.
  • Landscape and Visual Impact Assessments (LVIAs) for large and small housing projects and solar farms.
  • Master plans for projects ranging from 2 high-end new build houses, to a 300 ha area with 1500 houses.
  • Detailed hard materials and planting designs to accompany planning applications and to discharge planning conditions.

My academic background: I have a landscape design honours degree; a postgraduate diploma in landscape architecture, and further study and experience to gain membership of the Landscape Institute.
