News from Information Commissioner's Office

By

Three companies marketing financial services have been fined £170,000 collectively by the Information Commissioner's Office for illegal direct marketing under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR).

This included 20,939 unwanted direct marketing calls to people who were registered with the Telephone Preference Service (TPS). It is against the law to make a live marketing call to anyone who is registered with the TPS.

This news item from the ICO includes a link to register your landline and mobile numbers with TPS. Start the new year with a fresh look at your privacy as a consumer and as a business.
