What does a Mediterranean garden mean to you?

 

For some, it’s all about the planting. Lavender, Rosemary, silvery foliage and jewel-coloured flowers. For others, it’s the architecture of the space, with natural stone, structured paths, walls and strong geometric forms.

 

It might be formal or informal, rustic or refined.

 

As a designer, I want to understand what a Mediterranean garden means to each client before translating their ideas into a cohesive landscape.

 

A shared Pinterest board, or, old-school books and Post-it notes with comments explaining what they like and why, is a great starting point. It helps me identify the materials, forms, textures and atmosphere that will shape the design.
