Our Functional Skills courses focus on the skills needed in everyday work and social situations. They help develop practical maths skills and allow you to apply these to a range of realistic everyday situations. Whether you need to learn how to calculate percentages for work or balance your personal finances, Functional Skills Maths courses will focus on practical maths skills used in everyday life.
Classes available in the daytime, evening and online.

  • Classroom: Fully delivered in the classroom. 3-hour lessons weekly, plus at least 3 hours independent learning at home

  • Online: Learners will be able to access the online platform 24/7 which holds the course content – this must be completed in 17 weeks minimum of 6 hours independent learning at home, including 1:1 or small groups sessions over Teams. Mock exams and 1 exam sat in person in college
Students will learn:

  • Calculating with positive and negative whole numbers, and decimals.
  • Fractions, percentages and ratio.
  • Measuring shape and space, including scales, perimeter, area and volume.
  • Statistics and presenting data, including averages, probability and graphs and charts.
