Want to find out how to drive your website to success? Firstly, it is vital to know that a trendy and unique website design will help keep visitors’ attention, ensuring they stay longer to engage with your website and acquaint themselves with your company’s content.
When starting up, many businesses feel they don’t have the time to spend perfecting their website and to constantly keep updating it, but it is vital that you keep regular maintenance of your site! Keeping an active, modern, and well-taken care website is what will attract new clients, customers, and more. Here are a few vital bits of regular maintenance that you should be doing with your company website:
Check Links are Working
If a link is broken and returns a 404: page not found, or directs you to somewhere irrelevant, this can put people off from browsing your website further and potentially lose you business! Broken or irrelevant links can also harm SEO efforts, making Google rank you lower and lessening the visibility of your brand.
Ensure that all links on your website are functional, relevant, and necessary! This way, people have a smooth and positive experience viewing your website.
Modernisation and Following Trends
Making your content modern and fresh is so important because out-of-date trends can put viewers off viewing your content. This is especially necessary for blogs, social media feeds, and web content. However, if you have a small ecommerce site, and produce little content other than product descriptions and business information, then you are fine to mostly leave that content be.
Mobile and Desktop Versions
It is so important to consider what your content looks like on other devices, whether that be on a mobile device or a laptop. To test your site, ask a colleague or a friend to enter the URL into the search bar and if there are any problems, get them to highlight that for you to fix. The more devices your website is compatible with, the better!
Have a Backup of Your Website Just In Case
Backups are essential because you never know when something might not go according to plan. Any web hosting service should be backing up your website by default, but it never hurts to have your own back up, if possible. Having a backup is also vital for changing settings and experimenting with your website, so you can always restore to an earlier version if something goes wrong. For smaller websites, it’s a lot easier if you manage regular manual backups.
