Blackpool and The Fylde College is urging students struggling to decide on their university options to get in touch!

With many people worried about securing higher education places because of the recent changes to exam grading, tutors are reassuring students that it's not too late to apply for courses starting this year.

The college said its blended learning approach - vibrant online learning supported by face-to-face teaching with smaller class sizes - is appealing to many people during the virus pandemic.

Blackpool and The Fylde College holds the highest academic accolade from the government's Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF Gold) and has been commended by The Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education.

Onsite enrolment sessions are taking place at Bispham Campus every weekday until 4 September, with courses due to start later that month.

Theory-based sessions and assessments will be delivered mostly via the college's mobile-enabled virtual learning platform and Microsoft Teams, and supported by socially distanced small-group teaching and assessments on campus.

Many degrees are awarded by Lancaster University - one of the UK's top 10 higher education institutions, according to The Complete University Guide.

Alex Lever graduated with a BA Hons Family Support and Wellbeing in July 2019 after deciding on a career change.

He said: "The classes were a perfect size of about 30 people. It meant that the class was big enough to have class discussions, but small enough to feel individually supported by tutors."

Student Chay Lonsdale is studying BEng Aerospace Engineering, awarded by Lancaster University to pursue his dream of becoming an aircraft technician. 

The former St George's School student said: "I can get a prestigious university degree in my home town without the costs associated with living elsewhere."
