Age UK Lancashire has launched “Planning for your Retirement” Workshops to help employees plan for their retirement and encourage employers to hold discussions about retirement plans in a culture of support and transparency.
The demographic profile of the Lancashire workforce is changing. As the older age group increases fewer younger people are entering the workforce placing increased dependence on older working age employees. Employers are consequently facing the challenge of skills retention, succession planning, flexible retirement and higher state pension ages.
Anne Oliver, Project Manager at Age UK Lancashire says: “Attending the workshops will enable employees to feel more informed about all aspects of retirement planning and formulate a clear action plan including how to have timely discussions with their managers. Businesses will benefit from being able to respond more effectively to skills management and resource planning and employers will be seen as recognising individuals for their service and contribution”.
Feedback from previous workshops has been universally positive with one participant reporting “Each session was thought provoking and I am left with an overall acknowledgement of the need for me to plan…The content was fantastic – a great blend between education and lifestyle. Such a refreshing retirement course compared with other corporate programmes I have seen.”
Age UK Lancashire is the local expert on later life issues and are uniquely positioned to provide employers and employees with legislatively current retirement planning training. Workshops are delivered by carefully selected local solicitors, financial advisers and health trainers.
All profits raised through the delivery of the workshops will be used to support older people in Lancashire, Blackpool and North Sefton.
