RECRUITMENT EXPERT URGES PEOPLE BACK TO HOSPITALITY
With the UK hospitality sector gearing up for the summer season and having finally re-opened their doors to customers, one recruitment expert is urging those that left the sector in lockdown to return back to hospitality amidst fears many venues can’t find suitable staff.
Lisa Brady, owner of Perfect Recruitment, has seen a 95% surge in job adverts over the past three months alone for roles in the hospitality industry, but is worried those who left or lost their job during the pandemic won’t return to the role they once loved.
Now fully re-open;
restaurants, bars and hotels across the UK (county to regionalise the release) are set to face a bumper period of trading and she is encouraging those who were left unemployed to explore the many opportunities now available to them, as venues are keen to allay any concerns over returning to the workplace.
Lisa Brady said:
“It is understandable that there is some natural hesitation over returning to work in the hospitality industry after such a turbulent 12 months of uncertainty; but as the wheels of industry start turning again, now is the time to re-join such a thriving profession and the chance to actively seek out your next challenge.
“According to the ONS* there are 335,000 fewer people employed in the hospitality industry compared to last year and this just really highlights the incredible opportunities that are out there for candidates across the board, from front of house and management positions to chefs and event managers in both full and part time roles. There has never been a better time to strive for promotion or to take your career to the next level and I am feeling buoyant about the opportunities on our books.”
To further encourage the return of their most valuable assets, Lisa also noted an urgency from venues of all shapes and sizes to retain employee loyalty with some even implementing fresh measures, including new wage brackets; and with additional training in place to facilitate career progression and upskilling opportunities.
She added: “Hospitality roles can sometimes be seen as a stop gap at certain levels but this couldn’t be further from the truth. Hospitality is a rewarding, fulfilling industry with those in the sector having a long-term career path ahead of them and in all honesty if there was ever a right time to re-join or even start your chosen career in the industry, it is now!”
