Friend of Caritas Care Emily Lewis is in training to complete the 'virtual' Blackpool 10k on 12 July 2020 on behalf of our Learning Disability’s The FX service based on Segdwick Street in Preston.
Although Emily can't run the event in the normal way this year, this hasn't dampened her spirits and she has continued to train and will be taking part closer to home on the day.
The FX services offers a wide range of fun, stimulating activities for people with profound learning disabilities.
Emily’s motivation to take on this challenge is to support a service that her brother Michael, who was born with severe cerebral palsy, has been attending for several years.
Emily said “I’ve seen first-hand the difference The FX Service makes, not only for the young adults who attend like my brother Michael, but for their families too.
It’s incredible to see Michael’s big beaming smile after a day filled with exciting and stimulating experiences at The FX. I am extremely grateful to all the staff who work hard throughout the year to make service possible for people with profound Learning Disabilities.”
Martin Heneghan, Learning Disability Service Manager said, "We are thrilled that Emily has chosen Caritas Care as her chosen charity, any funds raised for this service will help us to support the people we care for with activities and equipment to make their time with us fun and educational. We wish her all the best with her challenge."
