A local law firm has donated iPads to a number of care homes in Lancashire to help residents keep in touch with their loved ones during the coronavirus pandemic.
The donation by Farleys Solicitors through their charitable foundation, the Farleys Foundation, has been a lifeline to residents whose families and loved ones have been unable to visit them in their care homes whilst visiting continues to be restricted through the lockdown.
Altham Care Limited in Clayton le Moors and the Royal Care Home in Lytham St Annes are just two of the homes that have benefitted from the donations.
Raj Singh, Managing Director of Altham Care commented:
We are extremely grateful for the donation of an iPad to our care home, this has enabled residents to see and speak to their loved ones without the risk of bringing the virus into the home. It has made a huge difference to residents’ mental well being for them to stay in touch, we also hope to use it for staff training.
“All the staff and residents at Royal Care Home would like to thank Farleys Solicitors for helping us to keep our communication links open with relatives through COVID 19. Elenor (pictured) is 100 years old and is absolutely loving it” added Debbie Parker, Registered Manager the Royal Care Home.
Nick Molyneux, Partner at Farleys Solicitors commented “We understand the importance of continued contact with friends and family at a time when visiting is severely restricted and are thrilled to be able to help people keep in touch at a time when it is needed the most.
“It’s also important that the key workers in the homes are able to use these to stay in touch with their families whilst they are on long shifts caring for our vulnerable members of society”.
These donations are just one of a number of charitable initiatives by Farleys over the last couple of months to support the local community during the pandemic. The Farleys Foundation recently donated much needed funds to a number of foodbanks and Covid-19 specific campaigns in the region, whilst staff members have been fundraising and collecting items for care packs for key workers on the front line at the Royal Blackburn Hospital.
The firm has also turned to technology to keep its long serving free legal advice clinic accessible to the Lancashire community via video technology.
Nick added: “Our free legal advice clinic has always been a crucial part of what we do as a business to put something back into the local community and is now more important than ever, particularly in light of legal issues arising as a result of the pandemic”.
