Join us for the 10th Annual Canoe Challenge!
Get ready for our Canoe Challenge 2025 – celebrating a decade of adventure and fundraising! Don’t miss out on this incredible opportunity to challenge yourself, support Age UK Lancashire, and enjoy a memorable day on the water. Whether you’re joining as a public participant or part of a corporate team, we can’t wait to see you there! This year, you have two opportunities to participate in this incredible event:

Public Challenge: Saturday, 10th May 2025
Corporate Challenge: Saturday, 31st May 2025

The starting point is Preston, where you and your team will row 25 miles along the canal to Lancaster. Enjoy the fantastic scenery and a test of endurance. Most participants complete the course in 6-8 hours.

The Course
This stretch of the canal is lock-free, meaning no interruptions or disembarking for locks. Paddle your way to success with the support of the Age UK Lancashire team, who will be stationed at checkpoints along the route to ensure your safety and cheer you on.

Starting Point: Hand and Dagger Pub, Preston, Salwick
Finishing Point: Waterwitch Pub, Lancaster

Practice Session

To ensure you feel comfortable and prepared, we’re offering a free practice session:

Date: Saturday, 12th April 2025
Location: Plox Brow, Tarleton, PR4 6H
(Morning and afternoon sessions available)

During this session, our expert team will guide you through techniques, safety tips, and answer any questions you have.

Crowdfunding and Fundraising
There is no entry fee to participate, but we ask each participant to raise a minimum of £300. To help you reach your fundraising goals:

  • Crowdfunding pages will be available starting March/April 2025.

  • We’ll assist with setting up your page, provide sponsorship forms, and share tips to make fundraising simple and successful.

Equipment
All necessary equipment is provided on the day, including canoes, buoyancy aids, and paddles. A suggested kit list will be sent out prior to the challenge to ensure you’re fully prepared.

Team Information
Teams must have a minimum of 2 participants.
Larger teams (up to 6) can divide the distance.
If you’re registering more than 6 people, consider entering multiple teams.

Volunteers Needed
We’re always looking for volunteers to help on event days! If you’re available on one or both days, please get in touch. Your time and support make this event possible.
