Sushma Community Cookery School CIC – Activities & Goals

Sushma Community Cookery School CIC delivers inclusive cookery workshops and cultural food sessions for residents, families, schools, and community groups. We work in partnership with councils, charities, and wellbeing organisations to provide accessible, low-cost or funded programmes, particularly for those most in need.

Our activities include delivering community cookery classes, outreach sessions, and food events that bring people together, celebrate cultural diversity, and promote wellbeing. We also create opportunities for volunteering, training, and work experience to support skills development and employability within catering and hospitality.

A key focus of our work is reducing food waste and promoting sustainable cooking through our Food Rethink and Cook with No Waste initiatives. We teach practical skills such as cooking from scratch, batch cooking, and making the most of ingredients, helping individuals and families save money and reduce waste.

Through our sessions, we aim to improve health and wellbeing, support mental health, reduce social isolation, and build confidence by creating a safe and welcoming space for people to connect and learn.
We are committed to working collaboratively with local organisations, CICs, and businesses to expand our reach, develop new programmes, and train others to deliver sessions in their communities.

All profits generated are reinvested into community projects, including free or subsidised classes, youth and interfaith initiatives, and partnerships that support food education, sustainability, and community wellbeing.
