He didn’t mean his Madeira socks at all. ?
He meant his Merino socks. ?
Yes hubby got confused about his fab new socks.
They’re so warm he tells me.
Which is great news.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s easy to use the wrong words to describe something isn't it?
When I first started out, I got excited about creating my PLAN.
Planning what I wanted to happen in the next few weeks, months or years for my business.
I believed I had a plan so cunning I’d easily rock this business and marketing malarkey.
My plan looked something like this:
- Get more sign-ups for my lead magnet
- Sell more of product X
- Get more traffic to my website
- Launch a new product
- Write more blogs
- Engage more on LinkedIn
- Go to more face to face networking events
Planning is the fun part.
It’s easy.
I do it with a cuppa.
The world is our lobster.
And we can aim for the sky and beyond.
And yes, creating a plan to outline your business goals and objectives is important.
BUT...
Here’s the rubbish news.
***** Your plan isn’t your strategy *****
Your strategy is you being clear on what specific ACTIONS you’re going to take.
It’s about knowing why you’re taking action in some places and not in others.
Why you’re focussing on being active on LinkedIn and not TikTok, for example.
And what actions you’re going to take to stand out to get leads and clients (if that’s on your plan).
Thinking of launching a new lead magnet or wanting your current one to work harder for you?
Get clear on what lead magnet you’re offering and what product or service you’re going to offer them.
Know:
?What problem it solves, who it’s for, when you’re going to offer it, where you’re going to offer it, how are you going to track it’s performance and how you then show up in their inbox and make your offer to them.
Your STRATEGY specifies what you’re going to do to (hopefully) get the outcomes you want.
Having a strategy also gives you activities that can be measured.
- Did I do it?
- How did it get on?
- What can I change?
- Keep?
- Tweak?
- Ditch?
?Got a plan that might need more of a strategy behind it?
Put some time in your diary and then settle down with a cuppa (biscuits optional) and get YOUR STRATEGY done so it brings your plan to life.
