The Blackburn-based Pierce Corporate Finance Team has advised Landfill Projects Environmental (LFP) on the acquisition of a sports turf and ground maintenance business.
Landfill Projects is the UK’s leading landfill contractor, with a comprehensive portfolio of delivering forward-thinking sustainable landfill solutions and environmental engineering with a mission to make a positive difference to Earth. Established in 1992 as EGM Civil Engineering, changing the business name to PE Pipe Technology in 2011, the company rebranded as Landfill Projects in 2016.
Boasting 100 years of combined experience Landfill Projects regenerate and reuse as many materials as possible to minimise the use of landfill sites.
The deal has seen LFP acquire the business and assets of Richard Peel Sports Turf, Richard Peel Ground Maintenance and RP Asset Holdings located in Barnoldswick, Lancashire.
The Richard Peel group is an industry-leading turf and ground care specialist who has a proven track record working with some of the largest venues, businesses, and public sector entities in the UK and further afield.
Richard Peel Group supplies premium playing and training surfaces to several professional football teams and other sporting venues using innovative technology to lengthen the life of playing areas alongside delivering bespoke ground maintenance solutions to organisations such as parks, schools, and local authorities.
Jenny Burke of Forbes Solicitors provided legal advice to Landfill Projects with Nina Barlow from Farnworth Rose Solicitors advising Richard Peel.
The acquisition will see the merger of complementary skills and expertise from each business to encourage future growth and development. Richard Peel will continue to have a key role in the business as a director and shareholder.
Paul Bennett, of Pierce Corporate Finance said, “It has been a pleasure to work with both Jason (LFP) and Richard to bring about the combination of two highly successful businesses and I am excited to see where the future will take them.”
Jason Wyles, Finance Director of Landfill Projects added, “We are delighted to have completed the purchase of the Richard Peel specialist turf business and greatly appreciated the assistance provided by the Pierce Corporate Finance team with financial due diligence and transaction support. Paul Bennett provided clear, concise advice and helped us resolve any difficulties we experienced during the process. We look forward to working with Richard to continue to offer sustainable turf solutions across sports industries and growing the business in the coming years.”
