Phil and his family accept the challenge to raise funds and awareness for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.
On 7th May this year, STEM Construction’s Contracts Manager Phil Jones is aiming to complete the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge with his family, in support of Joining Jack, who raise funds to help fight Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.
What is DMD?
DMD is one of the most common fatal genetic disorders to affect children around the world. It is a devastating and currently incurable muscle-wasting disease. Approximately one in every 3,500 boys worldwide is afflicted with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy with 20,000 new cases reported each year in the developed world.
Why this challenge?
Many years ago Phil’s wife Melanie had the pleasure & privilege of working with young people and their families affected by Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. After seeing first hand how amazing these young people and their families are, this cause became very close to the family’s hearts.
Phil and Melanie have completed the challenge before, but their children are now getting involved too. This is their son William’s 3rd Y3P and is aiming to beat his previous time & come in under 9 hrs. This year they’ll be joined by daughter Emily for her first attempt.
