Rolling Out The Pizza Dough

By

Most of us will enjoy eating our favourite pizza toppings: Margherita, Hot & Spicy, Hawaiian etc. But today it's all about the base!

As suppliers of high standing that want to do business with major corporates, we need to be thinking about our dough. What the dough represents is ambition, not to be confused with ego. Imagine you have flour and water to make your dough. Now you are going to roll it out, and you will roll it out to the size of your current ambition.

Have you rolled it to 6”, 9”, 12” or have you gone straight for a mega-whopping 14 incher?

Think of the size you have rolled out as your ambition, whatever your pizza’s size, gives you an indicator of where your ambition is at, at the moment. Your ego will probably tell you that that is sufficient to win business from gold-standard corporates. Let me tell you now that anything under a 14” is unlikely to win you the contracts that you want. It’s all about continually rolling out your pizza dough, so that your ambition surpasses that of your prospect client and that you will do everything that is required in order to win the business.

That is everything that you need to do to win business. Viessentially finds on an almost daily basis that suppliers’ ego stops them from realising their true ambition and, worse still, it can close the doors permanently on future attempts to win business with a particular prospect. Ambition is strength whereas ego is weakness. Ambition will be consistent and fair at all times, when ego does the following:

- Takes you off course

- Folds the dough back inwards

- Muddies the waters

- Collapses at hurdles

- Acts in a less than professional manner

Viessentially supports our clients on a continual basis as a Sounding Board and Trusted Advisor to ensure ambition, and not ego, is at work.
