The Home Office wish to reduce the fees payable to the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) for a basic, standard, or enhanced criminal records certificate. This explanatory memorandum has been prepared by the Home Office and is currently laid before Parliament.

The intention is to implement these changes by 1st October 2019. The fee reduction is expected to be as follows:

·       Basic certificate from £25 to £23

·       Standard certificate from £26 to £23

·       Enhanced certificate from £44 to £40

The fee for the Update Service will remain the same, at £13 per year.

Standard and enhanced volunteer applications will remain free-of-charge
