Sadly, with the global pandemic in full force and in increase in local lockdowns, our immigration team have been incredibly busy for the past 12 months assisting clients who have arrived in this country on a spouse visa and then been the victims of domestic abuse from their partners or other family members.

The lockdown situation has seen a dramatic rise in the number of referrals to our offices from women's refuges and other shelter organisations, asking for legal support to assist these women. Often there are cultural and language barriers, but the details of the abuse that some of these women have suffered has been incredibly harrowing. 

Our expert immigration team have worked closely with with a number of different refuges throughout the North-West and collated evidence from the police and medical practitioners to support a claim for Indefinite Leave to Remain. 

These legal services have been provided under Legal Aid and so, there has been no cost to the victims.  

Once the leave is granted, the applicant has the right to live and work in this country.
