Age UK Lancashire launch Cognitive Stimulation Therapy Sessions in Nelson

By
The CST sessions, which aim to help people living with dementia and their carers, are looking for people to join them in Nelson this March!

Heather Slater, CST Coordinator at Age UK Lancashire, says: “Cognitive Stimulation Therapy is the only non-drug treatment specifically recommended to improve cognition, independence and wellbeing for individuals living with mild to moderate dementia by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence”.

Each CST session is themed and includes a range of creative activities, music, topical discussion, physical activity, quizzes and word & number games.

The courses run for 24 weeks, followed by a special session for carers aimed at providing them with the tools and knowledge to continue supporting their loved ones in meaningful CST-based activities at home.

The courses start on Wednesday 22nd March 2023 at Victoria Pavilion, Carr Road, Nelson, BB9 7SS. The total cost of this course is £180 which equates to £7.50 per session.

Each client will be given a suitability assessment prior to the course starting to ensure they will get the full benefit from attending.

Heather added: “We have previously run these courses with amazing feedback and outcomes from people who attended. Our expert team do an incredible job and make sure each member is fully engaged and supported throughout. We highly recommend these sessions and would be happy to discuss them in more detail with people wanting to know more”.
