Proportionally only a small number of estates in the UK will have a liability to inheritance tax, however, despite this, the inheritance tax receipts for 2019/20 amounted to over £5.1bn. For estates affected by inheritance tax, the impact can be significant. Recent analysis has suggested that a failure amongst British taxpayers to plan ahead has resulted in £1.2bn of inheritance tax being needlessly paid highlighting the need for effective tax planning advice.
The past 12 months has also seen a nationwide focus upon charitable giving and support. This provides us with the opportunity for us to look at how supporting charities and charitable purposes can enhance a comprehensive wealth planning strategy.
