Chancellor of the Exchequer, Philip Hammond, has revealed that the 2019 Spring Statement will be held on Wednesday 13 March.
The announcement will be held just 17 days before the UK is scheduled to leave the EU. We are in a period of uncertainty on government rules, unprecedented in modern times. Our government is struggling to give businesses the clarity needed for good decision making.
In his Spring Statement, the Chancellor will respond to the Office of Budget Responsibility’s (OBR) forecast and provide an update on the economy and possibly tax matters.
We invite you to join us at lunch on 14 March to discuss what the Chancellor said and where business in Lancashire stands on Brexit preparations.
The seminar will cover:
-How the economy stands and what people are expecting
-Where the public finances stand and what might be happening in borrowing and spending
-What is happening on VAT: Import process, Payment process, MTD reminder
-Customs duty – overview of current and likely future rules
-Where the markets are up to now and what a sensible strategy is to manage uncertainty going forwards for your personal financial position
-What the planned tax changes in Income tax, corporation tax, etc are from April 2019 and what you might do about it
Event timings
12:00pm - arrival, registration and buffet lunch
12:30pm - start
2:00pm - finish
If you have any questions about the event, please do not hesitate to get in touch with Emma Millward on 01254 679131, or via email at *email removed*
