Court of Protection seminar in Blackburn, Lancashire

Aimed at legal professionals, our financial planning team is hosting a Court of Protection seminar with guest speakers, Oliver Banks and Abbi Cuffe.

Oliver has worked in Court of Protection for over 11 years. Specialising in property and affairs as either a named deputy or professional Attorney, Oliver enjoys dealing with challenging clients and family dynamics in a pro-active and hands-on manner. 

Abbi started working in benefits 12 years ago, initially at DWP. Her career has seen her straddle both COP and benefits work at the likes of Slater and Gordon, Potter Rees Dolan and JMW.

The seminar will cover a Deputy's responsibility on Welfare Benefits and the importance of getting them right, including:
• Current Deputy Standards in relation to Welfare Benefits
• What to look for in relation to Welfare Benefits and new applications / instructions
• When might a change of circumstances impact Welfare Benefits
• Welfare Benefits and red flags to look out for as a Deputy
• Welfare Benefit changes to be aware of

Our financial planning experts will briefly discuss how a financial adviser can support the Court of Protection services offered by law firms by considering a real life case study around cashflow planning.
