Demand for local produce surges as 12th April approaches

Lake District Produce Champion A Day's Walk has experienced a surge in interest and orders as the pandemic roadmap date for the opening of self-catering holiday accommodation creeps closer. During week commencing 15th March new customer registrations were up by 272% on the previous week and delivery slots for the 12th April in the Central Lakes area were all reserved within 24 hours of release. Additional slots have now been created to meet demand, up until the end of June.

Colin Sneath, Co-Founder of the Cartmel-based business, which supports 35 Lake District producers and offers more than 350 locally sourced food and drink items in its online shop, says the surge took everyone by surprise. "We were expecting an increase in orders to coincide with the 12th April but for all our slots to go in 24 hours was beyond expectations. We're now busy stocking up and fine-tuning our logistics to ensure all customers get the best possible experience when they support local!"
