I'm a Yorkshire Man... Let me show you how to improve Security for FREE!

If you've ever had any form of 'Phishing training', you'll have been told to "Look out for grammatical errors and suspicious links..

But there's a problem with this advice...

Scammers KNOW that you're on the lookout for those little problems and errors, and are using AI to improve their emails and SMS messages so they don't have grammatical or spelling errors.

And what exactly does a 'suspicious link' look like anyway?

The truth is... You can often tell it's a phishing scam not by the words used, but the emotion it evokes!

You don't need expensive technology (or even Consultants!) to improve your security.  Simply do the following and at no extra cost, your security is improved.


Slow down - Scammers love people who are busy.  When you get a message, read the message fully and ask "Does this feel right?"


Focus on one screen - If you're on your phone, checking emails while watching a movie, then you're more likely to click a link because you're not focused on one screen.  Do yourself (and your relationship) a favour and put down your device and focus on what you're doing.


Ask "What emotion is this evoking?" - Scammers like to push our buttons - literally and figuratively.  They use fear, anger, lust, greed, and scarcity to lure us into clicking a link or taking action.  Ask yourself what EMOTION the message/caller is trying to elicit, then slow down, focus on the request and consider if the request seems legitimate.  Would the Tax Office REALLY send an email making a formal tax demand that needs to be paid in 24hrs?!  No... 



Tech is only half the answer
Yes there are some great tools out there that can help you stay secure, and we advise that you take a look at them... but not at the expense of understanding the power is within your own hands to stay safe. 

Do the three things above and you'll be much safer, and you haven't had to spend a penny!
