The Impact of COVID 19 lockdown on Carbon Emissions in the UK

By

As a Country we have been forced into a different way of working, preventing Face to face meetings and increasing the use of Zoom and Microsoft Teams. As a result the usual travel to and from a meeting has stopped for most.

As a Company we have embraced the use of these technologies and will continue to do so after the pandemic is over.

One good thing to come from this awful situation is the reduction in energy use and Carbon emissions. Forward thinking businesses that are actively trying to reduce emissions can make this part of their strategy in heading towards a low carbon or nett zero carbon business.

According to the Climate Change Committee (CCC), an early comprehensive estimate suggests that global emissions have reduced by over 5% in the first three months of 2020 compared with the same period in 2019, with daily emissions in early April around 17% (11% - 25%) lower that in 2019.

What else can be done?
