Sustainable Recruitment?

By

Sustainable recruiting has never been more important. Appealing to the z generation who have this aspect forefront of their agenda.  At Perfect Recruitment our future is this next generation and to appeal to these guys we need to be ahead of the game with our Net zero plans.  The office has had the usual carbon foot print assessments. The business has already taken advantage of the grant for EV chargers, we have also banned all single use plastic water bottles and installed a water cooler.  Our next project is replacement of the lighting, however as the building is only 6 years old it would defeat the object to rip out all the existing lights and add those to landfill.  The business is looking at solar power and with the increasing electricity prices this is the way forward. The team are encouraged to use a CRM system or Excel for notes rather than paper again reducing out paper and printing.

As far as recruitment goes we do pay much more than the living wage.  Where possible we do recruit from the area.  I have never been one for recruiting someone for a job miles and miles away.  Not only is this not cost effective for the candidate it also has an impact on the planet not to mention the candidate will eventually decide they wish to work closer to home!  The team have been encouraged to interview via zoom/teams.  This worked well during the pandemic and while face to face recruitment still has its place the crucial initial stages of the process it is always good to put a face to the cv rather than talking over the phone.  If a candidate makes the time to do a video call they are much more likely to proceed to be a successful applicant.  This method hugely reduces our carbon footprint.  Interviewing approx. 20 candidates per week and asking each of them to visit Chorley would be ineffective to our long term eco plans.
