Places for People and Morris & Spottiswood (M&S) have joined forces this month on a project that is making a huge difference to the Caritas Care Community Centre in Plungington, Preston.
The pair has invested in energy efficiency and improvement works at the centre, undertaking a mixture of internal and external repairs and redecorations including new LED lighting in the hall, café and meeting rooms – a feature which will reduce electricity bills and improve the energy efficiency of the facilities.
A vital community facility, the Caritas Community Centre is a thriving community hub which runs a wide range of classes, groups and meetings for local residents. It also runs a food bank and a café, which encourages social contact particularly for those who have become lonely or isolated during the pandemic. It welcomes more than 20,000 visitors annually but finding money for repairs is always a challenge.
Martin Hughes of Places for People said: “Making a difference and giving back are key themes that run through all our work at Places for People – something that’s been even more pertinent this past year as we strive to help our customers and communities through the pandemic.
“This isn’t just about investing in our properties, but in local facilities that benefit local people. This project is testament to that commitment, and we are proud to have supported this excellent community support facility.”
Spencer Lee, Director at Morris & Spottiswood, said: “It has been great to work in partnership with Caritas Care and Places for People on this project, and to make a difference to the local community. We’re currently working with a number of clients to help them improve the energy efficiency of their facilities and this project shows the simplest of solutions can be effective.”
Ben Clayton, Centre Manager said: “I am delighted with the work that has recently been completed by the team and is keen to welcome more local residents to make use of the healthy, safe environment within the centre.”
Our sincere thanks and appreciation go to both Places for People and Morris and Spottiswood for their ongoing support.
