When Graham first walked through the doors of Runshaw Adult College, he wasn’t entirely sure where his learning journey would take him. What he did know, however, was that he was determined to build a new future.

Graham began with Functional Skills English, carefully rebuilding his confidence in the classroom after time away from formal education. Once he’d achieved that milestone, he moved straight on to Functional Skills Maths, proving to himself that he was capable of much more than he ever imagined.

His tutors quickly recognised his drive and potential, encouraging him to take the next step: the Access to Social Sciences course. This programme was challenging, fast-paced, and transformative.  He thrived in an environment filled with like‑minded adult learners, each with their own ambitions and personal motivations.

Thanks to his hard work, focus, and growing belief in his abilities, Graham secured a place at university.

Fast forward to today, and Graham is now in the final year of his degree. Reflecting on his time with us when we met up in October 2025, he spoke with pride about how Runshaw helped him rebuild his academic foundations and unlock new opportunities. His journey is a powerful reminder that with the right support and determination, it’s never too late to pursue your ambitions.
