🚴‍♂️ From Croydon Tracksuit to Cumbrian Climbs 🚁

I’m Tim King – or as many know me, Timmy Tracksuit – a 59-year-old cyclist and proud fundraiser for the North West Air Ambulance.

Since 2012, I’ve ridden the Fred Whitton Challenge, a brutal and beautiful 112-mile cycle through the Lake District with over 3,700m of climbing. It’s a test of endurance, spirit, and heart – and it’s personal for me.

A crash on Honister Pass in 2023 could’ve ended my riding for good. But as hapenstance would have it, the NWAA, the very charity I ride for, came to my rescue. That day sealed my commitment. https://bit.ly/439zOZt

💛 In total, I’ve raised over £25,000, which equates to more than 8 hours of flight time and, no doubt, numerous lives saved.
This year (Sunday 11th May 2025), I’m going again. Still chasing my elusive sub-7-hour ELITE finish. Still fundraising. Still wearing “001” – the number bib awarded to the event’s top fundraiser. And yes, still promoting the tracksuit that earned me my nickname back in a Croydon school gym 45 years ago.

I started cycling in my 40s to manage hypertension and asthma. It’s never too late to start. Never too late to change. Never too late to make a difference.
