Bolton Businesswoman Celebrates Decade of Success Whilst Expanding Community Impact

Friends, partners and supporters gathered at the Mayor's Parlour in Bolton yesterday to celebrate the 10th anniversary of award-winning catering business Sushma's Snacks, marking a decade of business success, community support and social impact.

Founded by Sushma Solanki, who moved from Nairobi, Kenya and built her life and business in Bolton, Sushma's Snacks has become known not only for high-quality catering but also for its commitment to helping local communities.

The celebration reflected both the achievements of the past ten years and an exciting new chapter with the launch of Sushma's Community Interest Company (CIC), established to extend the organisation's social impact work.

The CIC has already secured £19,000 National Lottery funding and is developing initiatives including Waste to Taste, a programme designed to help people learn practical cookery skills, cook nutritious meals on a budget, reduce food waste and gain confidence in the kitchen.

Through connections made across the GB Shared and Lancashare networks, the organisation has also been introduced to partners including Smoke Free Lancashire to explore further opportunities to support local communities.

The anniversary event was hosted by Maura Jackson, who entertained guests with a light-hearted blind taste challenge that reflected the warmth and community spirit that have become synonymous with Sushma's work.

Among those attending were friends, business partners, supporters and fellow CIC Director Sue France, who continues to support the organisation's growing community ambitions.

Over the years, Sushma has supported numerous community initiatives, including charity fundraising events, wellbeing activities, community projects and collaborations with organisations such as Age UK Lancashire. Her dedication to giving back led to her being nominated for recognition through the NCRC Community Champions programme.

A close friend and long-time supporter, Lisa Edge of GB Shared, said:
