A Tale of 2 Weddings

By
A tale of two weddings, both had hoped to be outside but the weather had other plans:

A beautiful boutique hotel in the Lake District, to marry a lovely couple who met later in life and became each other's everything.

A very emotional, intimate ceremony shared with their very nearest and dearest - 3 adult children and their other halves.

We started early as everyone was ready.

That's the beauty of working with an independent celebrant, you don't have to wait if you want to crack on with your ceremony and celebrations.

With the legal bit, you cannot start before the scheduled time.

Yesterday, they were ready early, so we just got on with it as soon as the beautiful bride appeared.

Then, on to wedding number 2, a real privilege to deliver a ceremony at someone's home - another advantage of working with a celebrant, you can get married wherever you like. This is the 2nd home wedding I've done this year.

They had worked really hard to prepare their garden; tables dressed, marquees prepared, bars, flower garlands that looked fabulous......

But we had the most TORRENTIAL rain that we have had all summer - flooding, the works, so all their hard work was absolutely sodden. We had to keep poking the roof of one marquee to remove the pools of water.

The house wasn't big enough to deliver a ceremony indoors, so we gathered under a canopy in the back garden.

Their ceremony was supposed to be a romantic twilight ceremony, starting at 7pm.

It was dark and wet, but the couple radiated love for each other and lit up the moment; the bride in her gorgeous dress wearing her dad's suit jacket, and the groom, emotional and proud, surrounded by friends and family in big jackets, wellies and brollies.

Those who couldn't make it outside listened indoors on the PA system, so nobody missed out.

It was a real case of not giving up in the face of adversity - what a way to start married life.

The day will be remembered for years to come and a real story to tell their children. ❤️

Below is a behind the scenes peep preparing for ceremony 1.

I arrive early, speak with the groom, best man, ring bearers and venue hosts, a final read through and prepare special gifts for the happy couple.

The end of a journey, sharing their love story and wishing them a long and very happy life together.

I absolutely 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰doing this.
