. We have funding which  allows us to offer free training to companies within the Preston Council area. This funding must be spent by the end of March so we have the following courses available which may be of interest to you.

Introduction to Import Procedures.

The course will cover import documentation and procedures, commercial considerations, the importance of your purchase order, calculating VAT and duty, and how to reduce import customs clearance delays. Incoterms® and their impact on importing will be shown, along with an introduction to duty regimes to help importers.

Understanding Exports

This popular course is aimed at people involved with export sales, payment, documentation, dispatch and import/export activities. It also provides an excellent opportunity for import/export supervisors and managers to acquire a good understanding of the work carried out by their staff.
International trade concepts and procedures are explained in simple everyday terms and delegates leave equipped with a good understanding and knowledge of current best practice.
The content includes:
• Current EU and non-EU business
• BREXIT impact
• What is an export and the export process
• Why is it important to know where the UK has trade agreements
• What is a contract of sale and what content is required?
• What is a purchase order and what content is required?
• What are Incoterms and the importance of using them in an international contract.
• The importance of Commodity/Tariff codes in international trade
• An overview of packaging, shipping marks and handling labels.
• Why as an exporter you must be aware of embargoes and sanctions?
• What type of goods are controlled with export licences?
• The advantages of using freight forwarders.
• Why must you give your forwarder written instructions when asking them to arrange the export of your goods?
• Explanation of why you need Proof of Export.

These courses would normally be chargeable however we can offer places of up to 3 members of staff for the half day courses or 2 on the full day at no cost to the company
