Preston City Centre BID
LET’S COOK…LIVE!
A free family event has been organised by the city’s Business Improvement District on Saturday 8th July from 12.00pm until 4.00pm
Soap star and Celebrity Masterchef contestant Scott Maslen, CBeebies star Katy Ashworth and ITV’s Dean Edwards will take to the cookery theatre stage for a free afternoon of fun and entertainment whilst demonstrating some great easily achievable dishes for the whole family.
Preston has established itself as ‘the’ place in Lancashire for choice, service and value when it comes to dining out. ‘Let’s Cook…Live’ comes to the city centre hot on the heels of Gregg Wallace’s visit last summer.
Masterchef’s Gregg visited some of Preston’s best restaurants and commented that ‘Preston is one of the friendliest places I’ve ever visited and the food here is great’.
Katy Ashworth, from the children’s television programme ‘I Can Cook’, will show younger members of the family how exciting cooking as a family can be.
Dean Edwards, from ITV’s ‘Lorraine’ has been a professional chef since 2006 and will be putting together some mouth-watering dishes in front of the live audience.
Maslen will complete the line-up at ‘Let’s Cook…Live’ and prepare some of his popular signature dishes as featured on Celebrity Masterchef.
The event will also feature demonstrations from some of the city’s best local restaurants.
Mark Whittle from Preston BID, organisers of the event said: ‘Working with colleagues in the retail sector, we’ve put together a great line up of personalities to tempt people in to town for this free to attend family event.
We will be installing a huge stage and giant screen to ensure that attendees can really feel a part of the event and hopefully take home some great ideas for eating together as a family’.
Andrew Stringer co-chair of the city’s Retail Forum and manager of St. George’s Shopping Centre said: ‘this promises to be a fantastic afternoon for all the family and I’m sure the wellknown faces on stage will prove to as popular as the TV shows they are associated with’. Later that evening the BID, in partnership with the city’s leisure businesses, is staging a concert with headline performances from international DJ’s and producers Tom Zanetti and Fatman Scoop
