2020 was an unprecedented year. Early concerns as to how trustee meetings and AGMs should be held soon paled into significance to the longer-term impacts of COVID-19 on service delivery, funding and concerns as to ongoing viability. Still, charity law and regulation has continued to develop and charities are, perhaps more so than ever before, under increasingly intense regulatory and government scrutiny.

As is the case every year, we are delighted to invite you to our very popular annual charity law update. The free webinar will provide charity trustees and senior managers with information on legal developments affecting charities that have taken place over the last 12 months. We will also be looking ahead at the issues charities will be facing as we hopefully move out of lockdown and into whatever the “new normal” ultimately comes to look like.

Graeme Hughes and Imogen Trafford from our Charity Law Team will provide an informative round-up of legal developments in the voluntary sector, including:

  • The conclusion of the Kids Company case;
  • The Charity Commission’s regulatory approach;
  • The updated Charity Governance Code; and
  • The role of charities in “the culture war”.

We will also be joined by Jo HandlerChristine Hart and Trishna Modessa-Parekh from our Employment Law Team who will discuss various changes in employment law affecting charities.

The webinar will conclude with an opportunity for attendees to ask any questions they might have for our speakers.
