I met virtually with an old school friend on Friday to chew the cud and see if I could help him following his recent redundancy from working at the EDF Power Station in Heysham earlier in October.
We had spoken earlier in the year about me showing UW to him but he declined the opportunity because - and I quote: 'I get a special rate for working for EDF'. Okay, cool. I've never been made redundant before but I suspect that it puts a LOT of stress and focus on household outgoings. My friend agreed, and so was now willing to take a look at what we might be able to offer him, even though his 'very good deal' is still valid until March 2021.
I showed him the breadth of what UW offers and, him being suitably impressed, we did a cost comparison. His five bedroom terrace in Morecambe is currently costing £230 pcm for his energy. I thought that was pretty steep even for a larger, older house and especially so for a staff discounted deal. My suspicions were proven correct when UW came in at £103 pcm.
HIs services from UW - gas, electricity, landline and broadband, and a mobile sim - came in at £155 pcm, and with their projected cashback each month of £35 from using our exclusive UW cashback card whenever they spend, this reduced their bill to £120 pcm.
I didn't need to highlight the fact that all his household services with UW would be less than he was paying for his energy alone, nor was I going to enter into the conversation about his amazing deal with EDF might just have been a bum deal after all. He saw it all clearly for himself.
Open minds open doors to new possibilities.
I wish you all an enjoyable week.
Harry
