BILLING ERRORS - Is your business paying unnecessary charges on your energy bills??

As part of our service to our customers we’re able to identify billing errors and reclaim any overpayments on behalf of our customers. One particular hidden charge that we see all the time is the Climate Change Levy (CCL).

CCL is charged on all business gas and electricity bills over and above a minimum usage and can be as much as 5% of your electricity bill and 20% of your gas bill.

However, many business types would qualify for exemption from the charge, something that isn’t well known and even harder to claim back. We offer a no-win-no-fee service where we will audit a business’s energy bills going back 4 years, quantify the size of the potential rebate and submit a claim on their behalf. For this service we charge 20% of whatever we are able to recover.

Eligibility is on a case by case basis but it almost certainly applies to (non-exhaustive);

  • Self-catering accommodation including caravan parks
  • Hospices, care homes, children’s homes
  • School & university accommodation
  • HMO’s
  • Charities
  • Manufacturing of glass, bricks, ceramics, cement, plaster
  • Ready mix concrete batching, manufacture of precast concrete products
  • Cutting, shaping stone
  • Casting, forging, pressing, coating and roll-forming of metal

Recent examples include a successful claim of £14,400 for a purpose built self-catering accommodation block.

On top of this we are able to claim back rebates where the wrong VAT rate has been applied. As well as the CCL exemption, the gas and electricity used by the sectors above highlighted blue also qualifies for the reduced 5% VAT rate rather than standard 20%. That’s a rebate of 15% applied for 4 years previous!

We operate in the same way as we do for the energy tariffs. All we are looking for is an introduction to someone that would like to explore the possibility of claiming back thousands of pounds of overpayment on their energy bills. We pay 20% of our income (or 4% of the total successful claim) to our introducers.

Again, probably the best way to understand the size of the opportunity and how it works is to introduce a trusted client / friend / family member as a case study. Any questions on this please don’t hesitate to give drop me a line at mark.rb@golowcarbon.co.uk or call on 07792833271
