Adopter Nichola decided to set herself not one but THREE challenges in the year she turns 40!
She said, “Rather than a New Year’s Resolution that I would break before January was over, I thought setting myself some challenges was the way to go. So, here I am now registered and training to run The Edinburgh Marathon in May – I feel anxious that I won’t finish, but excited and motivated to be taking this on, this HUGE 26.2 mile challenge.”
Nichola and her husband Carl started their adoption journey in December 2019 when they first contacted our Concurrent Planning Service, a service for very young children who enter care and are likely to need adoption, but who also still have a chance of being reunited with their birth family.
She added, “One of the biggest and hardest challenges I have over come was starting a family, this was certainly a marathon and not a sprint to cross that finish line. It certainly wasn’t something I achieved alone, but I needed the support of my amazing husband Carl, our wonderful family and friends and The Concurrent Planning Adoption Service through Caritas Care.
Nichola and Carl were approved as Concurrent Carers in August 2020 and in December of the same year they received a call about 3 day old Baby. In April 2021 they became Baby M’s legally adopted parents.
