The Auckland Project Shortlisted for North East Culture Award

By

We are delighted to announce our shortlisting for the Heritage Award at this year's North East Culture Awards.

With over 400 nominations submitted for various categories, the introduction of the Heritage Award marks a significant recognition of the importance of preserving and celebrating cultural heritage.

“[The Auckland Project's]  achievements since philanthropist Jonathan Ruffer decided to invest in Bishop Auckland have been extraordinary. This year saw the opening of the latest attraction, the country’s first Faith Museum, following The Spanish Gallery and Mining Art Gallery.” – The Journal, Nov 2023.

The winners of the North East Culture Awards were revealed on 13 December, during a ceremony hosted at The Fire Station in Sunderland. The event was held in partnership with Sunderland City Council and the University of Sunderland, reflecting a collaborative effort to celebrate the region's diverse cultural contributions.

The Heritage Award nomination is a testament to The Auckland Project's dedication to preserving and promoting cultural heritage, making a lasting impact on the community and the broader North East region.
