“No plan survives contact with the enemy” is a regularly heard saying in the military.

Mike Tyson put it rather more eruditely when he said: “Everyone has a plan till they get punched in the mouth”.

Both mean the same thing but the former results in most veterans being well versed in having to adapt the plan, think on the hoof, or as some might even say, “cuff it”.

The ability to adapt to changing circumstances, often out of your control, is a valuable quality in business. In fact, veterans always pride themselves on keeping calm in the eye of the storm.
